History

Kilop USA, Inc. was formed in 1988 in Greensboro, NC. Kilop’s founders, Heinz Chen and Christine Yumei Chen, recognized the need for quality staple fiber, yarn and fabric during a boom time of the textiles industry in the south. They created the company to help develop a strong sales and distribution network for all Formosa Plastics Group’s textile production.

Heinz and Christine worked side-by-side to develop the sales network and meet the increasing demand for Formosa products. In order to meet those demands, Kilop eventually added new vendors and product lines, molding their business as the technology of nonwovens improved. They worked hard to create a diversified product mix to ensure that all special requests and needs could be accommodated.

The early millennium brought trying times for the textiles industry, and in 2003, Heinz Chen passed away suddenly. Christine then assumed the role of president and became the face of Kilop in the midst of textile industry struggle. She took on the position with a passion and responsibility towards the customers and suppliers. Under Christine’s leadership, Kilop increased sales and enhanced the value of Kilop’s network within the textile and nonwovens field. Kilop took the initiative to venture outside of the traditional textiles industry by adding product lines based on newly developed nonwovens technologies.

Today, Kilop USA, Inc. stands out as a company that maintains a consistent understanding of the latest technologies not only in nonwovens, but fast-developing opportunities throughout the industry, and strives to bring those new products into the market.
